Dodson’s writing so far has tended to stay pretty consistent
to the same structure. He usually starts out with a story, giving us some sort
of background and insight on what he’s planning to talk about, and then goes on
with facts to explain how China is based on the subject he brings up. Chapter
six switches it up a little bit. Dodson brings in more personal, specific
stories than usual. He seems to really have a lot of experiences to share and
does so with a more limited supply of general facts. While still including
facts necessary to explain the situation in China, we can tell that he learned
these facts not only from research, but also from personal experience. In this
chapter he makes it more evident that he was living enveloped in this situation
of infrastructure with his use of detail.
Chapter seven takes Dodson back into his usual approach of
some short personal experience, followed by tons of facts. I would still consider
his facts somewhat specific in this chapter, but I feel as if he or maybe even
the country in general is more personally related to the information in chapter
six. I think we are looking to focus on the writing style of chapter six
because it is one that makes the reader feel as if you have experienced and genuinely
know what you are talking about when it comes to the topic you are writing
about.
